Martine and Michael Dowden Present Talks in Berlin

For much of the back half of October, Martine Dowden and Michel Dowden took a trip to Berlin, Germany, for the API Conference and the Serverless Architecture Conference. The trip went well, with both Martine and Michael giving presentations while also enjoying Germany.

When it came to business, the team was incredibly busy. At API Con, Martine gave the talk “Writing a dynamic API endpoint generator: Consuming arbitrary data against a user-defined layered schema,” and Michael was a keynote speaker with “Real-time Serverless APIs.” At the Serverless Architecture Conference, in addition to those talks, they presented an Advanced Serverless Workshop, did an AMA (Ask Me Anything) panel, and Michael presented “Coding Serverless Functions.” During the Advanced Serverless Workshop, where they enjoyed collaborating with Chad Green once more, Martine created Poll Cat, a real-time polling/survey application for use in live presentations, which debuted at the workshop. They also attended some amazing talks from Roberto Freato, Renato Losio, Marius Zaharia, and Billie Thompson, were able to spend time at the conference with one of our clients’ developers, and Michael received a number of compliments and discussions about his Keynote presentation.

While in Berlin, of course, you have to do a bit of sightseeing. While there, they visited the Berlin Zoo, the Berlin Cathedral, as well as numerous museums. They were also incredibly happy with their meals at Night Kitchen and Restaurant 1840. A red panda, resting in a tree.

The conferences in Berlin have become one of the trips Martine and Michael look forward to every year, and they are already looking forward to 2026.
