FlexePark Expands Public Parking Options
FlexePark, a shared parking solution that creates public spaces from private lots, has recently made available three additional convenient parking lots in Bloomington. These lots join three other locally-partnered FlexePark lots, also opened in 2019.
FlexePark was developed as a solution to the lack of public parking options in metro areas. Through FlexePark, local businesses generate extra income by making their unused parking available to the community, usually after business hours. Drivers simply use their phone camera to scan the QR code on a FlexePark space sign to securely pay a flat parking fee. This patent-pending technology has been recognized as a finalist for the 2019 Parking Today Awards, 2019 TechPoint Mira Awards, and 2019 Leading City AcceliCITY Awards.
The White Rabbit Print & Design lot, located at 601 S. Walnut St., has five parking spaces for $5 from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. Monday-Friday and all day on Saturday and Sunday. The Topo's 403 lot, located at 403 N. Walnut St., has seven parking spaces available on Sunday-Wednesday for $8 and Thursday-Saturday for $15. The Eleventh & Rogers lot, located at 700 N. Rogers St., has 10 parking spaces for $8 from 5 p.m.-4 a.m. Monday-Friday and all day on Saturday and Sunday.
Additionally, an existing FlexePark lot at First United Methodist Church, located at 299 East 3rd St., has recently expanded from 28 to 60 parking spaces, and now offers monthly parking.
“FlexePark has been extremely well received in Bloomington and we are pleased to be able to offer even more convenient parking options downtown,” says FlexePark president and co-founder Michael Dowden. “With 6 parking lots we’re making a real difference for Bloomington businesses, generating extra revenue for our partners and increasing traffic for other downtown businesses.”
