Martine Dowden to speak at Columbus JS on Wednesday, April 21 at 7:00 pm EDT
Martine Dowden will be speaking at Columbus JS, the JavaScript User Group for Columbus, Ohio on Wednesday, April 21 at 7:00 pm EDT. Her talk is titled Typesetting in CSS: Using Typography to Enhance Your Design. She will discuss the history of typography leading to where we are today, how to make decisions about fonts and their usage in our application, and the CSS properties that allow us to manipulate our type for a polished, beautiful design.
In addition to being the CTO of Andromeda Galactic Solutions, Martine is also an international conference speaker, a Google Developer Expert in Web Technologies, and a Microsoft MVP in Developer Technologies. In 2015, Martine’s children’s book Programming Languages ABC++ was published by Inedo, and in 2016 the Workbook Edition sold over 20,000 copies. She also wrote Approachable Accessibility, which was published by Apress in 2019, and Architecting CSS, published in 2020, also by Apress. Martine Dowden has degrees in both Psychology, and Design and Visual Communications, which she uses to develop beautiful user experiences and development.
