The Andromeda CTO talks about using typography to enhance designs
Andromeda co-founder and CTO Martine Dowden will be at Web Directions: Hover on April 29th, with the event running on April 29th and May 6th, 2022. While there, she will be presenting her panel, Type-Setting in CSS: Using Typography to Enhance your Design. In this panel, she will discuss the history of typography leading to where we are today, how to make decisions about fonts and their usage in applications, and the CSS properties that allow us to manipulate our type for a polished, beautiful design. Other topics at this conference will include CSS, debugging, fonts, accessibility, and many more.
Focusing on web interfaces that are beautiful, functional, accessible, and usable, Martine Dowden approaches the User Experience from both Art and Science angles, drawing from her degrees in Psychology and Visual Communications. She has worked as an artist, educator, and consultant since 2005. She stays active in the industry by writing articles, leading workshops, and attending and speaking at conferences and meetups worldwide. In 2015 she published a children's book, Programming Languages ABC++, and in 2016 the Workbook Edition sold over 20,000 copies. She then went on to write Approachable Accessibility: Planning for Success, which was released in June 2019 and Architecting CSS: The Programmer’s Guide to Effective Stylesheets in 2020.
